CONTRIBUTION OF JEWISH POPULATION TO SOCIOECONOMIC

AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT OF ZOLOTONOSHA REGION


Jewish population of Zolotonosha made a considerable contribution to socioeconomic and cultural development of the region. This statement is based on compelling evidence. All spheres of the city's industry began to evolve due to entrepreneurial and professional approach of Jewish owners to the organization of their enterprises. New businesses required manpower, which gave employment to the urban and rural population of the region. Trade, financial and credit activity facilitated the broad industrialization of the city of Zolotonosha. The article features the development of the economy, which had a beneficial effect on emerging of new buildings, educational, cultural and medical establishments, pharmacies. It sheds light on the key standing of Jewish people in civic and political life of the region. The article also illustrates the state of affairs in literature, architecture, art, publishing business, which empowered the process of modernization of the city. It also sheds light on spheres of action of Jewish population of Zolotonosha, among which are well-known scientists, athletes, filmmakers, performing artists.
